The unique strength of 17-7 PH stainless steel comes from its specific composition, primarily chromium and nickel, with a crucial addition of aluminum. This allows it to be heat-treated, or precipitation hardened, transforming it from a ductile state into an incredibly strong one. Through this process, these flanges achieve remarkable mechanical properties, including very high tensile strength and excellent hardness, all while maintaining good corrosion resistance. This makes them far stronger than standard austenitic stainless grades without becoming brittle.
