ER309LSi filler wires comprise usually chromium (22–24%), nickel (12–14%), silicon (0.65–1.0%), and low carbon (<0.03%) to avoid carbide precipitation. The weld metal has tensile strength of approximately 580 MPa, yield strength of approximately 400 MPa, and elongation of up to 35%. The higher silicon content improves fluidity and weld bead finish. It offers excellent resistance to corrosion and oxidation in high-temperature as well as mild chemical exposures. ER309LSi provides strong, joint without cracks in dissimilar steels and preserves structural integrity under conditions of thermal cycling.
