The AWS Class ER316/316H filler wires and rods are produced in line with the American Welding Society (AWS) A5.9 / ASME SFA 5.9 specifications for stainless steel solid and rod consumables, making them suitable for both MIG (GMAW) and TIG (GTAW) welding processes. These alloys are specifically designed for austenitic stainless steels that contain molybdenum (like 316, 316L, 316H), where enhanced corrosion resistance (particularly against pitting and crevice corrosion) is essential, along with robust weld-metal integrity. The “H” variant (ER316H) has a higher carbon content and is specially formulated for high-temperature applications, creep resistance, and dynamic load scenarios.
