SS 455 Sheet and Plates are composed of 11.0–12.5% chromium, 7.5–9.5% nickel, 0.05% carbon (max), 0.5% manganese, 0.5% silicon, 0.8–1.4% copper, and trace elements like niobium and titanium for enhanced hardenability. This composition provides a balance of corrosion resistance and mechanical strength. The alloy exhibits a tensile strength of about 1000 MPa, yield strength of 850 MPa, elongation of 15%, and excellent toughness even at sub-zero temperatures. SS 455 can be precipitation-hardened through heat treatment to achieve outstanding mechanical performance and structural stability.
